Annette Hilton is working toward her PhD in the Bren School at the University of California Santa Barbara. Annette is interested in studying groundwater quantity variations over time at expansive spatial scales, and how groundwater quantity can impact groundwater quality and surface waters. Some of Annette's current work utilizes vertical hydraulic gradient to understand groundwater flow at the continental scale, to explore how groundwater flow has been changing throughout time and what impacts flow may have on surface waters and contaminant spread. Annette will also conduct field work research investigating groundwater and surface water interactions at the Jack and Laura Dangermond Preserve, and plans to develop a groundwater data tool to assist researchers in their analysis of large data sets for groundwater measurements.
