Merhawi GebreEgziabher GebreMichael completed his PhD in Civil Engineering at Washington State University in 2019. He earned a M.Sc. in Hydrogeology and B.Sc. in Earth Sciences (Geology) from Addis Ababa University. Merhawi's post-doctoral research focuses on groundwater resources management. Since optimal water resources management and informed decision making requires interdisciplinary research by developing a sound conceptualization of the hydrological regime, Merhawi's research focuses on compiling and analyzing large groundwater databases consisting of observations. His research enables a better understanding of the ways to quantify and allocate freshwater resources and predict unforeseen changes induced by anthropogenic climate change and variability. Hence, his research rests on data driven understanding of our limited freshwater resources, informated by coupling both physical and hydrogeochemical data analysis with hydrological simulations.
